For 30 years I lived the music industry from the inside — signed to major labels (Atlantic Records, EMI, Capitol), over 600,000 albums sold, 25,000,000+ streams, an Orange County Music Award for Best Hard Rock Performer, and tours alongside everyone from Linkin Park to Thirty Seconds to Mars to Sevendust. I've experienced pretty much every music industry cliché there is — the good and the bad. Along the way I'm also the author of nine books, including my memoir I. Need. Truth.: My Life and Times in Project 86.

But here's what most artists never do: I educated myself on the business side as much as the creative side.
